Video Deconstruction:

What i love about this video is the challenged stereotypes. It was a total contrast to what i was expecting- this seemingly was the directors intentions. As typically an electronic/funk song would have a video that shows more modern and futuristic codes and conventions. However, a common 'Basement Jaxx' style is to challenge the stereotypes and appeal to a different audience.. they have achieved this through the use of the Indian themed dancing, women and mise en scene. The old-fashioned lighting and filming effects used also shows a more homemade feeling to the video...
However, this may work for some people..to me, this dancing is not very complimentary of the song choice as it is not how i would picture this particular genre of music being represented. Though i do love how the women are all pictured smiling and happy, having a good time dancing. This is something i would love to include in my own video as it seems to be reciprocated through the bouncy and positive beat and lyrics of the song.
